Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure meant to reduce the size, and/or reshape the labia minora or the labia majora. The labia minora refers to inner labia, or lips of the vagina, which are situated between the outer labia ( labia majora) and the vaginal opening.
There are considerable variations in the size of the labia minora in a woman of a reproductive age. Sometimes, women with large labia minora can experience pain during intercourse, or feel discomfort when wearing tight-fitting clothing.
The fullness and roundness of the labia majora may be too excessive or small affecting the vulval aesthetics. The fullness of the labia majora can be reduced by liposuction or increased by microfat grafting.
The principle purpose of labiaplasty is to improve the external appearance of the vagina and its aesthetics. After the procedure most women have less discomfort during intercourse, feel more positive about their appearance and show overall improvement in their self esteem.
